The Spirituality of Imperfection

The goal of the pilgrimage that is spirituality is, simply, to keep moving - spiritually - one step at a time. While we are not always well-situated to judge “progress,” at least we know with Rilke that “Staying is nowhere.” Or as Confucius said, “It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop.”

“What is Tao?” Master Ummon replied, “Walk on.”

“What was most important to your teacher?” The disciple thought and then replied: “Whatever he happened to be doing at the moment.”
